God, Work and Leadership

Beltway Park has recently launched a new Deeper Class entitled God, Work and Leadership.  This class answers the questions of how do you find God in your workplace and how can you see your workplace as a mission field.

Here are some of the topics discussed:

Week 1 - God's Plan for Your Job

Week 2 - God's Grace for Your Provision

Week 3 - God's Promise for Your Success

Week 4 - God's Word for Your Workplace

Week 5 - God's Spirit for Your Guidance

Week 6 - God's Mission for the Marketplace

The class meets on Sundays during the third service at 11:25am in classroom A100B.  This semester's class started last week, but feel free to jump in anytime.  The class will be offered next semester as well.

Already, we are hearing great feedback on how this class is impacting lives.  Kimberly Johnson is one of the class' attendees.  She recently shared with Beltway Women what this class has meant to her so far.

"Humility sure shows up in funny ways.  Working in the field of customer relations and service, I get dished a serving of it often.  Crazy thing about it is, I ask for it.  Yes, ask for it.  God amazes me daily through others and circumstances.  Daily I am humbled before Him! "He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way." Psalm 25:9. His creation, us, is beautiful and unique to each.  I have the privilege everyday to meet a new one.  It's humbling in that it is not always easy!  It can be tricky to work through relationships with personalities of all kinds. However, knowing God has a plan, provision, and a mission for each day and I have His word, Holy Spirit, and His promises through every step, gives me great strength and couragre.  He shares and equips us with His wisdom, favor, and peace.  "Be strong and courageous.  Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you.  He will not leave you or forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:5-6

One of my favorite story's is found in Joshua.  The Israelites were crossing the Jordan to take Jericho. The priest with the ark in front, the Jordan at flood level and a strong current flowing.  What were they seeing, hearing, feeling?   Surely aware of the power the water contained and the magnitude of crossing it.  As they got closer and closer to the waters edge, nothing was changing.  Until the priest set their feet into the water!  They had to, as the leaders, walk in faith feeling the wet and strength of the water before it parted.

WOW! Let's get our feet wet! Let us walk out in faith, as leaders, in what God is calling in our day to day at our work place.  Go deeper into His revelations and see the waters part for those who desperately need Him.  'By faith we understand that the universe was created by the work of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.' Hebrews 11:3"

Such wonderful truths we can all use as we encounter the world in our daily lives!

We hope you will check out God, Work and Leadership and see what God has in store for you on your own personal mission field.

Guest Post-The Importance of the Secret Place

This week, our guest blogger is Hannah Holmes.  Hannah is a stay at home mom with a passion to write and share the love of Jesus wherever she goes.  Hannah has served on the Women's Vision Team in the past and is currently serving on the worship team, healing and prayer team and several other ministries.  She is a gifted musician and loves spending time with The Lord as He unlocks His deepest mysteries in her heart.  You can find Hannah at www.hannahboneholmes.com The Importance of the Secret Place There was once a time when I thought my “ Quiet Time ” with the Lord  had to fit into a prescribed method.  In fact, when I heard about people who avidly set aside time in their “prayer closet,” I always wondered how they did things.  What was the magic structure that made the time  right  before God ? Was it, like…: 3 minutes – reading daily devotional 14 minutes – reading the Bible 8 minutes – praying, (using the ACTS method, of course!!) ADORATION (15 seconds)
