Meet Sarah Turner

It's Sarah Turner's turn!

Once upon a time, Sarah was asked to be a bridesmaid in her friend's wedding.  But, walking in brand new heels proved to be trickier than she thought.  Coming down the alter steps with her groomsman escort, Sarah slipped and fell, taking her escort with her.  She took it all in stride though, hopping
right back up and dancing her way down the aisle! It's that kind of joy and ability to enjoy whatever life throws at her that makes Sarah such a sweet addition to our church family.

Married for seven years, Sarah and her husband Geoffrey met in highschool.  Once she got to know him and they had been dating for a while, Sarah saw Geoffrey's heart for youth and family ministry and she knew the possibility of him becoming a pastor was high.  In college, when Sarah began to see herself being married to him, she knew that full-time ministry would be a large part of their lives on some level.  Today, Geoffrey is the Pastor of Middle School Students at Beltway Park.  Sarah works alongside him by welcoming teens into their home, seeking to make them feel comfortable, at ease and seen.

Sarah and her husband have a precious daughter, Berkley Grace, who is two years old.  Berkley will
become a big sister in November when little sister Ellie Katherine makes her debut!  Sarah is blessed to stay home with Berkley, teaching and nurturing her to memorize and love scripture each day and also works part time at Beltway in Kids' Club and Summer Club.

Passionate about her home and family, Sarah takes very seriously the mission to make their house a home and place of respite and peace.  She is challenged also to "Shop Savvy", always on the lookout for a good bargain, stretching their resources and being a good steward of their blessings at the same time.  When life gets just a little stressful, Sarah and Geoffrey enjoy porch time together after Berkley is in bed.  Good conversation and occasionally a porch-side Rangers game is just the
trick! Pedicures, coffee with friends, a Sonic vanilla Diet Coke or a little Car Karaoke are also some great stress relievers for Sarah.  DIY, crafting and floral arranging are also some of Sarah's favorite past times.  She loves to create and recreate things for her home, children and others.

The very things that Sarah enjoys are the things that God has gifted her with spiritually.  Hospitality is something Sarah dearly loves to use by planning parties and showers for others and imparting value on them with this gift. Gifted with encouragement as well, Sarah uses it in her home, in life group and in the different play groups that Berkley is involved.  Sarah is also gifted with the ability to teach.  She taught for more than eight years at Beltway in several areas, but was called to stay home with her children when she was still expecting Berkley.  This proved to be one of the biggest faith steps Sarah has taken to date.  Leaving her full time work in Kid's Club was extremely sad and hard for her.  It wasn't easy for Sarah to let go of her role there and relinquish it to someone else.  Still, God was faithful as she chose to trust Him above her feelings.  He made a way for her to continue her work there on a part time, flexible schedule and has continued to provide for all their needs both emotionally and financially.

This ability to trust the Lord comes from an assurance in Sarah's heart that she belongs to the Lord and is His.  Armed with that assurance, she is able to take captive negative and discouraging thoughts and submit to Christ, aligning herself with what He says about her.  This allows Sarah to trust Him with her husband and daughters and enables her to choose joy on trying days.  Staying accountable with a small group of women also keeps Sarah grounded in truth.  The Lord used two women in her life to teach Sarah some important truths about offense.  They taught her to first pray, taking her
burdens to the Lord and laying them at His feet.  Then, she learned to invite the Lord into the situation and listen to His heart for her and others involved.  Finally, she learned to forgive the offender and bless them according to the great love Father God has for them.

Sarah has had the great opportunity to travel all over the world, sharing that love from God to others.  She has been all over North America, the Caribbean, Mexico and her beloved Enniscorthy, Ireland.  Ireland has truly captured her heart and each time she leaves, she can't wait to get back!

Please come to Let's Get Together on September 26th to hear more from the heart of this amazing woman of God!

Breakthrough by Audra Butler

I have been feeling some very strange and growing emotions since quarantine began.  I can’t define them. The only way to describe them are jumbled and cloudy.  It’s as if my mind and heart are growing cloudier with each day. I was texting back and forth last night with a dear sister (because that’s what you do in quarantine 😂 ).  Her texts to me were the exact feelings I had been experiencing.  It was confirmation that we were to start praying for breakthrough. I woke up early this morning and was so ready to sit in His presence, open His word, read what He had for me and hear His sweet voice.  But, when I looked outside, the sunrise caught me!  I immediately ran out to enjoy the pinks and oranges filling the sky.  Then, I turned the opposite way and I was in awe of the almost full moon and a Great Blue Heron sitting so majestically on the neighbor’s pier.  Our Creator’s beauty always outdoes itself and speaks an infinite amount of word...
