Meet Jeannette McQueen

Please get to know Jeannette McQueen!

Jeannette is married to Beltway Park's lead pastor, David McQueen.  They have been married for twenty-eight years and have three children.  Two of their children are adults; Joshua is twenty-two and married to Bradye and Rebecca is twenty-one and is recently engaged to Hunter Haught.  David and Jeannette are also parents to Zoe who is thirteen.

By the time Jeannette was a teenager, she knew in her heart that she would become a preacher's wife.   She walked that calling out by saying yes to David's proposal, knowing the call that he had on his life.  While some young brides may think they are marrying a business man and then be led into ministry later, Jeannette did not feel surprised at all by life in ministry, knowing fully what she was getting into marrying David.

Being a pastor's wife has given Jeannette many opportunities she never thought she would experience.  In 2006, she and David were invited to the Presidential Prayer Breakfast.  She was amazed she was there and the experience felt very surreal as she looked across the room at the President and Vice President. Another time, she and David had the opportunity to have dinner at the King David Hotel overlooking the old city of Jerusalem.  At the end of the meal, a treasured friend, Don Finto, prayed the Aaronic Blessing over them and as Jeannette said, "Heaven could have come down right then!"

Jeannette currently works as the Pastor of Adoption and Foster Care in Beltway's Journey 68:6 ministry.   It's in this role that she gets to use many of her spiritual gifts.   Jeannette has been gifted with the spiritual gifts of administration, wisdom and discernment.  These are important gifts in facilitating a ministry, working with parents and families and praying for the needs of these families.  This role also allows her to walk out one of her biggest passions-orphan care.  Jeannette gets to an up close opportunity to serve children and families in and around orphan and foster care and see the exciting ways the Lord is working in this area.

Jeannette's heart for orphans came directly from the Lord when He called she and David to adopt their youngest child, Zoe at the age of eight.  Jeannette describes this time as being the biggest faith step she has taken to date.  Though the journey has been challenging, she kept hearing the Lord say "My grace is sufficient for you...Do not be afraid.  I will be with you."

As a wife and a pastor in ministry on her own, Jeannette has many opportunities to be offended and to walk out the freedom she has receive from holding onto offense.  Admittedly, Jeannette says that her flesh is always trying to pick up an offense, but it's the daily choice to choose forgiveness that gives way to victory.  Recently, Jeannette's flesh wanted to pick up an offense toward a sister in Christ.  As she prayed and talked to the Lord about it, He spoke very clearly to her saying "Her wrongdoing can't prevent the plans I have for you."  This was a timely reminder for Jeannette that God is in control and the actions of others can't undo that.

In her "off" time, Jeannette has many interests.  Right now, planning the next McQueen wedding is top on the list!  She also loves to travel and spend time with family.  When she needs to relax, you can usually find Jeannette playing the piano or listening to worship music, perusing Pinterest or admiring friends' photos on Instagram and Facebook.

One of the most treasured qualities about Jeannette is her realness.  She is down-to-earth and enjoys a good laugh, even when it's on her.  One such occasion was during a cruise vacation.  On formal night, the slit on the skirt of her very formal dress split WAY too high.  She made her way back to her room to change, but had to walk with her backside to the wall the whole way!

A stunning example of a godly wife and mother, devoted follower of Jesus and a lover of laughter and adventure, Jeannette is a blessing and someone you will want to get to know better!

Breakthrough by Audra Butler

I have been feeling some very strange and growing emotions since quarantine began.  I can’t define them. The only way to describe them are jumbled and cloudy.  It’s as if my mind and heart are growing cloudier with each day. I was texting back and forth last night with a dear sister (because that’s what you do in quarantine 😂 ).  Her texts to me were the exact feelings I had been experiencing.  It was confirmation that we were to start praying for breakthrough. I woke up early this morning and was so ready to sit in His presence, open His word, read what He had for me and hear His sweet voice.  But, when I looked outside, the sunrise caught me!  I immediately ran out to enjoy the pinks and oranges filling the sky.  Then, I turned the opposite way and I was in awe of the almost full moon and a Great Blue Heron sitting so majestically on the neighbor’s pier.  Our Creator’s beauty always outdoes itself and speaks an infinite amount of word...
