REFIT® Testimony by Valerie Thompson

The following is a testimony from one of our regular REFIT® members who has been a part of REFIT® from the very beginning in August of 2015.  Valerie Thompson and her older daughter Adeleigh are amazing and continue to join the amazing fitness community at REFIT®.

Honestly, I wasn't very interested in Refit until I saw that you could bring your older daughter. I hate working out in front of people, needing to arrange childcare, and paying money for something I could do for free at home. It just always seemed like so much work to do something you can do at home. However, I believe deeply in following a healthy lifestyle and I am always looking for ways to instill this in my children.

Adeleigh loves to dance and I loved the fact that it had Christian music and would provide a safe community for her. I wanted to surround her with a safe environment to let loose, dance, and "workout" at the same time without it actually being viewed as work. I am beyond proud of her dedication and hard work. She gives it her best! She absolutely loves going on stage with Lisa and Leah. Adeleigh loves Refit the most because of their humor.  It pleases my heart that this is the highlight of her week.  I even used it as a consequence for undesired behavior and she was like "Mom, you can't take Refit away. If I don't exercise I'll die"!  We attended a guest speaker conference at Beltway and Adeleigh went up for prayer. God had given the lady speaking over her a vision of Adeleigh dancing in class and it touched her heart so deeply.

Refit has also touched my life way more than I could of imagined. I actually love going every time and look forward to the great stress relief it provides. I love meeting new ladies and learning that I am not alone in my battles. I'm very tightly wound and never took time for myself. This helped me have "me" time and the fact that I get to bond with my daughter and watch her grow in strength to become a warrior is a win win! It's the moments when Adeleigh looks back at me during a tough song and smiles.... Her smile speaks so much. I'm honestly blown away by all the  positives that come and continue to come out of this opportunity. Sweaty pinky time is the best! We are so grateful for Lisa and Leah and all the dedication that goes into running Refit. I have enjoyed watching it grow and can't wait to see what the future holds! We tell everyone we know!

Meet Sherry Bluhm

If you don't already know, Sherry Bluhm doesn't take herself too seriously.  Having grown up in a very legalistic religion, Sherry finds the gift of Freedom in Christ as an invitation to truly enjoy life and show the world that walking with Jesus is a fun adventure. And adventure she does!  Sherry's primary adventure is being married to her husband, Brian.  Sherry says they've been married for twenty-three wonderful years for a total of twenty-four years.  We're sure it's this ability to laugh that has made so many of their years together wonderful.  Brian is an elder at Beltway Park and Sherry is blessed to be his "head cheerleader". Though she didn't quite envision herself as an elder's wife, in college Sherry was asked to write where she saw herself in ten years and she wrote that she would be married to a youth pastor.  Brian was a youth pastor before he and Sherry met, giving ground for a prophetic spiritual gift in Sherry. Sherry an...

Breakthrough by Audra Butler

I have been feeling some very strange and growing emotions since quarantine began.  I can’t define them. The only way to describe them are jumbled and cloudy.  It’s as if my mind and heart are growing cloudier with each day. I was texting back and forth last night with a dear sister (because that’s what you do in quarantine 😂 ).  Her texts to me were the exact feelings I had been experiencing.  It was confirmation that we were to start praying for breakthrough. I woke up early this morning and was so ready to sit in His presence, open His word, read what He had for me and hear His sweet voice.  But, when I looked outside, the sunrise caught me!  I immediately ran out to enjoy the pinks and oranges filling the sky.  Then, I turned the opposite way and I was in awe of the almost full moon and a Great Blue Heron sitting so majestically on the neighbor’s pier.  Our Creator’s beauty always outdoes itself and speaks an infinite amount of word...

Meet Gaylene Templeton

Gaylene Templeton  (better known as GayGay to her 7 grandchildren) has been married to Ray (Beltway Elder) for 42 years.  They have 5 children: Amy, Misty, Ashlee, Abe, and Addison.  Their children range in age from 41 to 24, and their grandchildren range in age from 20 to in-the-womb (expected in December and March). Gaylene is passionate about being the best wife, mother, and GayGay she can be.  She was truly stretched in her faith when she was only 17, and had her first child.  "The biggest faith step would be trusting God to provide for our family and give us the wisdom to raise Godly children.  The Lord helped me through this with prayer, Bible study, and Christian fellowship." Little did Gaylene anticipate, about 4 years ago, her role as GayGay would take a frightening turn!  Her oldest grandson, Harrison (now aged 20), contracted a flu virus that attacked his heart.  "He was in the hospital for about 2 months, and it was touc...
