Meet Bobbie Turner

It's time to get to know Bobbie Turner!

Bobbie is married to Randy Turner, Pastor of Family Ministries at Beltway Park.  They have been married for 29 years and have raised a beautiful family and are now beginning to enjoy being grandparents!  Their children are Geoffrey and his wife Sarah, Sarah Elizabeth, Emily and Landon.  Their beautiful granddaughter is Berkley and she will soon be a big sister, adding another grandbaby to love!

As a young girl, Bobbie never dreamed that she would be a Christian, let alone a pastor's wife.  She grew up in a non-believing family and came to know Jesus as a teenager.  However, by age fifteen, Bobbie was so committed to Jesus that she couldn't imagine marrying anyone that didn't have the same desire to be involved in ministry on some level.

It has been this journey in her life that has stirred the passions in Bobbie's heart for teens and college students.  In her day job, Bobbie works at Hardin-Simmons University with college students and is passionate about serving them and meeting their needs.  Bobbie also volunteers at Beltway ministering to youth and college students.  Because she herself came to know the Lord as a youth, Bobbie has a passion to grow and equip young people in their walks with Jesus.

Bobbie has also had to walk some hard roads of faith in her life.  Eleven years ago, she faced what she considers the biggest one to date when her sister committed suicide.  Broken and in pain, Bobbie found it difficult to just get out of bed each day and had to remind herself that she had a family to take care of.  She found herself in a deep crisis of faith, completely depressed and struggling with knowing if she was really even a Christian at all.  Bobbie walked this hard path for about a year when one of her young children reminded her in a small way that she needed to learn to be happy again.  She began to release all of her sadness and anger over to the Lord and He began to minister to her heart.  Over and over, Bobbie heard the Lord remind her that no matter how big the crisis was in her life, He would never leave her.

Bobbie is blessed that hearing from the Lord and receiving His wisdom and ministry is not out of the norm for her and her family.  She loves living in a household that is completely sold out to Jesus.  When a spirit of bondage tries to rise up in her, Bobbie pulls out scriptures that remind her of the truth of who she is.  Each day, Bobbie seeks the Lord's face, willing to do what He says, no matter the cost.  In addition, Bobbie regularly seeks the wisdom and counsel of godly women to pour into her and speak truth over her life.

In walking closely with the Lord, Bobbie has learned a thing or two about dealing with offense with others.  While knowing that no one is perfect, Bobbie is glad to report that this is an area she feels successful in. Bobbie does not like conflict in relationships.  Bobbie says, "I am very open with people when I am offended, or when I feel like I have offended them.  I am upfront and willing to apologize or move on. I don’t feel like I have to win every battle….one thing that I know is that we are all human, no one is perfect, and we will all cause offense and be offended at some time."  Bobbie's prayer has always been to be able to forgive quickly.  She doesn't ever want to harbor offense, but wants to deal with it immediately.

Bobbie is passionate about loving her family and her husband.  She loves to relax by reading, walking with Randy and working out.  Bobbie really enjoys a good read...in the bathtub!  She is also an avid crafter, making jewelry, painting canvas and other things.  Bobbie dearly loves to cook as well.

We asked Bobbie what is one thing in her life that she has experienced that she never thought she would.  Her answer is so inspiring that we couldn't have said it any other way.

"Honestly, growing up as a child, I never thought I would have a family like I have.  I have been married almost thirty years to a man that I am so crazy in love with, four kids that I could not be more proud of, and one and ¾ grandchildren that I adore.  Not that there hasn’t been heartache and hard times but, at the end of the day, I can’t believe how incredibly blessed I am."

What a wonderful testimony from the heart of this blessed woman of God!

Breakthrough by Audra Butler

I have been feeling some very strange and growing emotions since quarantine began.  I can’t define them. The only way to describe them are jumbled and cloudy.  It’s as if my mind and heart are growing cloudier with each day. I was texting back and forth last night with a dear sister (because that’s what you do in quarantine 😂 ).  Her texts to me were the exact feelings I had been experiencing.  It was confirmation that we were to start praying for breakthrough. I woke up early this morning and was so ready to sit in His presence, open His word, read what He had for me and hear His sweet voice.  But, when I looked outside, the sunrise caught me!  I immediately ran out to enjoy the pinks and oranges filling the sky.  Then, I turned the opposite way and I was in awe of the almost full moon and a Great Blue Heron sitting so majestically on the neighbor’s pier.  Our Creator’s beauty always outdoes itself and speaks an infinite amount of word...
