Meet Audra Shim

In short, I grew up in a polytheistic home that didn’t value children or men. I got pregnant when I was 16, and upon finding out my mom quickly scheduled my abortion and organized payment with my boyfriend. I reluctantly aborted 3 days before my 17th birthday. My baby was 10 weeks in the womb.  I gave my life to Christ 3 years later after joining the Air Force. Fast forward 10 years and two children later, I began volunteering at the pregnancy care center in Ogden, Utah. Here, God revealed to me the spiritual bondage I was living in and the unforgiveness I was harboring against my mother. After completing the post abortive counseling and education class (PACE), I experienced freedom for the first time! During this past Released Retreat, to be honest, I had no expectations going in and wasn’t sure until the last night of the retreat why God had me there. Worship + Workout Instructors Left to right:  Lori Prickett, Leah Hammett, Lisa Tickner, and Kim Roberston The word the Lord gave to our ministry at the start of 2018 was "more."   Ephesians 3:20-21 "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!  Amen."   The first big "more" of the year asked of us by the Lord was stepping out in faith into our own ministry name of Worship + Workout (previously under the company of REFIT®).  This act of obedience has allowed us more freedom to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, specific to our ministry.   The second big "more" was expanding Worship + Workout to Midland after the co-founder Leah Hammett's move there.  Since January Leah has been establishing community with the women of Mid-Cities Church through Worship + ...

Beltway Women Mentoring Program

Leslie Brown is the coordinator for our Beltway Women Mentoring Program.  This is her third year to lead this program.  She is also very active on the Beltway Women Vision Team, and the Core Team at Beltway North campus.  We love Leslie's heart for other women, especially women who desire to learn more about Jesus. Leslie Brown pictured with her husband Mark and their grandchildren Over the past 20 years, God has blessed me with several young women whom I now consider spiritual daughters.  Each mentoring relationship has looked different, and yet what was common in each was the desire to know and love Jesus more.  My relationship grew with Him as a result of these special young women.  If I could have coffee with you, you would see my face light up and hear the joy in my voice as I share stories about each of my spiritual daughters.  Each so precious to me and I am so proud of how they are making a difference in Kingdom work. Dear Friends, It's already February.  2017 is off and running like a downhill skier on Red Bull.   I want to share a series of encounters I had to get us into the topic of this letter . . . First, a friend shared with me how much he was enjoying a podcast by a thoughtful NPR commentator, and the nuggets of insight were impressive.  A few hours later a different friend mentioned how much they were getting out of another podcast.  I thought to myself, I'd better subscribe to those; they sound really good and I feel like I'm not keeping up with the trends.   That afternoon, Stasi said something about some world news event she had just read about, and I thought, Wow--I am not keeping up on global happenings.  I'd better do more of that, too.   During a meeting the next day, someone makes a reference to a well-known ministry when everyone else at the table nods like they knew the story, and I'm wondering, Wow--I have no idea what is going on in the...

Praying God's Word

Raenel Hebert was born in Georgia to a military family.   She has lived all over the world and discovered Jesus when she was six years old living in Alaska.   It was during this season Raenel learned to read the Word, memorize Scripture, and began to pray for missionaries.   This began her life long journey and love for God and the studying of His word. In her senior year of high school, her dad retired and they moved to Georgia.   Raenel studied at the University of Georgia for two years.   She married her beloved husband, Alex, a military man.   They had their first child, Jason, while living in California and their second child, Nicole, while in Maryland.   Her mother was a very Godly woman who had set an example of reaching out to the Japanese while living in Japan.   This example encouraged Raenel to share the Gospel with friends while living in Okinawa many years later.   When her mother was teaching English to her Japanese fr...

God's Prompting

God is so amazing!! At many times through my journey with The Upside Down Club I have been completely blown away at how God is using me to do his work and the promptings I have felt in my heart! I want to share one of my testimonies on how Amazing GOD is!! About 3 months ago I was having major promptings from the Holy Spirit. Every day for a few weeks I heard "babies are coming and our club needed to get ready" I made 2 girl baskets and 2 boy baskets to welcome new babies into our club and to show the families love and support... I named them "Tubs of LOVE". Before the tubs were even all the way finished we got 2 girl babies and 2 boy babies born with Down syndrome to welcome to our club! I couldn't believe it!!! Something even more amazing happened with one of these sweet babies God had already placed me right where he wanted me. I met my new sweet friend Jessica Cope Riggan at Beltway's Released Retreat.
